about vertical city
Established by Ken King in 2012, Vertical City is a not-for-profit organization that aims to ignite a worldwide conversation about vertical cities as a solution to a more sustainable future. Our team is made up of passionate individuals who believe we need large and urgent solutions to our global problems. We have team members in Portland Oregon, New York City, and Shanghai, China. We are also supported by dozens of architecture, urban planning, energy, and sustainability experts who have contributed their insights into the vertical city concept.

Check out the Vertical City Podcast. kickstarterIn November of 2014 we launched a Kickstarter campaign with a goal of raising $4,000 to help us publish the first book ever written about vertical cities. Kickstarter, Treehugger and Fast Company all featured our campaign and we ended up raising $8,088. By the end of 2015 we had published the book and sent copies to backers in nearly 20 different countries. Best of all, our successful campaign allowed us to donate dozens of copies of Vertical City: A Solution for Sustainable Living to educational institutions around the world.
